Gender Equity Discussions in the Senate (31/07/2025)

Senator Lidia Thorpe raised several motions throughout the session regarding critical issues of gender equity and women’s rights. Senator Katy Gallagher voiced strong support for the LGBT community while criticizing the Sex Discrimination Amendment Bill, reaffirming the commitment to improving healthcare access for women and underprivileged groups across Australia, highlighting ongoing discussions around equal rights (Page 37). Throughout the session, Gallagher consistently addressed topics of women’s economic empowerment and equality, maintaining that the government’s engagements were crucial in refining policies that would benefit women’s experiences within economic frameworks (Page 60).
